#SwapWoo hoo! It’s back – the #SwapItLikeItsHot blogger event and I scored the jackpot of swap partners. Bre from Brepurposed sent me the most AMAZING items for my swap post. She is super sweet, super talented, and a mama to be!
Check out me booty:
In the box:
- small copper mold
- 3 handkerchiefs/napkins
- flax seed tin
- cocoa tin
- medical pamphlet holder
As per the norm, when Kurt saw the box of swap stuff he instantly questioned what I was going to do with this junk (see last year’s post for a similar story).
Um, excuse me but that is NOT junk. Those are my new desk accessories.
My school desk was in need of some creative life and these fit right into my “old stuff repurposed” theme.
Just a few tweaks:
- the tins were given a chalkboard makeover (the cocoa tin was an all over job but I only sprayed the flax seed tin lid)
*My hands were also given a chalkboard makeover – note to self: wear gloves
- medical pamphlet holder was given a shiny copper coat of paint
- a box from the Target dollar bins was used to house the whole she-bang
NOTE: the fluorescent lights of my classroom are not flattering for anyone or anything
So what did I do with my slightly redone booty? Cleaned up my school desk – which happens to be a 1942 drafting table that I have repurposed along with an old factory stool.
Legit cool, huh?
The ribbon is also a vintage find – 1963 horse show amazingness.
I love my new desk organizer tray – the paper clips are separated and easy to access in the copper mold while the flaxseed tin holds my mints (I tend to chomp on those when I’m frustrated). Notice the lid is chalkboard now and I personalized. I was going to go with “keep your dirty hands off of my stuff” but there wasn’t enough room.
The old medical pamphlet holder is the PERFECT size for holding extra sticky notes and notecards.
The cocoa tin that was given a chalkboard makeover was also given a decorative touch – some old plaid fabric wrapped around a piece of leftover foam fit nicely into the open top. I am slightly obsessed with my child and will find any way to decorate using his name.
I love how neat and organized my desk looks now AND it’s all repurposed!
Yeah for #SwapItLikeItsHot – there are over 40 bloggers who are participating this year! In accordance with the guidelines – I sent my items over to Colleen at 58 WaterStreet – check her out and then go and check out the rest of the bloggers!
